With the focus on this movies 2 main actors other films The Dark Knight Knight Rises (Tom Hardy) and The Thing/Great Gatsby (Joel Edgerton) WARRIOR seems to be the forgotten film. WARRIOR is a Mma drama which has Hardy & Edgerton play estranged brothers who end up facing each other in the championship final of the mixed martial arts, right away people are comparing this to David O Russell’s THE FIGHTER as due to the family involvement and their chequered past with there alcoholic dad played by Nick Nolte.
The movies first trailer came out back in April it which people seem to catch onto the movies ‘cheesy’ elements which was a little unfair as the movie has been getting some really good positive reviews at the film festivals its played at and below is an new 60 second tv trailer/tv spot which highlights the movie looks very good. WARRIOR isn’t out until October 7th so I do expect Lionsgate UK to release another full trailer before its theatrical release.
WARRIOR also stars Jennifer Morrison, Bryan Callen, Kevin Dunn, Jake McLaughlin,Liam Ferguson,Kurt Angle with the movie directed by Gavin O’Connor.
Two brothers face the fight of a lifetime – and the wreckage of their broken family – within the brutal, high-stakes world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting in Lionsgate’s action/drama, WARRIOR.
An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Riordan returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father, a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the titleprize, his brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.
But when Brendan’s unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.
