Is Amanda Seyfried Warner Bros Girl with The Red Riding Hood?

Last summer Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke annouced she will be creating the  gothic modern retake of the classic Little Red Hiding Hood story The Girl With The Red Riding Hood. Warner Bros will be the studio distributing it the movie when it comes out and will follow the story of an damsel in distress as an Werewolf  stalking her.

I dont know what it is but movie studio’s think majority of the movie goers these days are of the age group of Twilight fans (mid-late teens) rather than think outside the box and look at the movie goers in a broader perspective. So Warner Bros are targeting the Twilight fanbase (like what Spiderman seems to want to do) with this project bringong dangerous, dark  as well as romance elements into the movie that only Twilight fans seem to undrstand. Nothing has been made concrete yet on the casting front but 24 Frames are reporting that Mama Mia/Jennifer’s Body star Amanda Seyfried is on a very very shortlist to play that distressed damsel.

If Twilight is this movies inspiration they may as well shut up shop now as this is very bad news and even if the movie is good it will be making life hard for itsself by taking inspiration from wrong places. The Orphan writer David Johnson has apparently given the movies script a new lease of life and has been boasting the movies story is up there with the likes of Shutter Island! Shutter Island isn’t out for another 3 weeks but comparing a teen movie to an iconic movie director , all I can say I nearly died with laughter.

In a male dominated industry it is always good that some women want or give the boys a run for there money, even though its still gothic inspired Catherine Hardwicke is looking to expand into other genres or at least other things within a genre.In the meantime we will wait for further offical comments from this flick.
