I am a big fan of the underrated 28 Weeks Later which was directed Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and I know Im not alone here in my opinions. Fresnadillo since the 2007 film has been linked hundreds of projects but he has declined or the links were just gossip but now has returned with INTRUDERS.
The pyschological Horror thriller tells the story of 2 parallel tales one in Spain of a mother trying to protect her son and in Britain a father trying to protect his daughter both from a faceless apparitions. Clive Owen plays the British father whose scepticism turns to horror when the apparition turns out to be real and too often in recent horrors the director doesn’t seem to slip out of the comfort zone but it does look like Fresnadillo may just do that, you can see similarities with Troy Nixey’s Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark remake too. We do have some faith in this as in recent times Spanish filmmakers have been responsible in re-inventing the horror genre bringing a little bit of the scare factor back to a overcrowded genre.
Below is the new UK Trailer for the movie which will be released in UK on October 7th and is set to open the 59th San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain on 16th September. INTRUDERS also stars e Kerry Fox, Carice van Houten and Daniel Brühl.
Vodpod videos no longer available.Intruders tells parallel stories of two families whose lives are disrupted by menacing apparitions: in Spain, a mother tries to protect her son from a faceless stranger, while in Britain, a young girl has terrifying dreams of a demon who becomes a real danger to her and her family.
