David Cronenberg’s A DANGEROUS METHOD has had its official trailer premiered online by Hanway Films/Lionsgate. The movie is based on a Christopher Hampton novel “The Talking Cure” starring Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Vincent Cassel and Sarah Gadon.Its ironic that a filmmaker who has spent his years delving into the dark world of the human psyche that his latest movie is based on a story of 2 of the world’s so called greatest minds Sigmund Freud(Mortensen) and Carl Jung(Fassbender) and a love triangle that the 2 men were allegedly involved in with a female patient Sabrina (Knightley). The true story is the bitter rivalry between 2 men once friends which is destroyed by the love triangle but its also the birth of psychoanalysis.
The movie has been annouced it will be premiered at this years Venice Film Festival late August/September before its released in UK & Ireland in February 2012. This is Cronenberg’s first movie since Eastern Promises its long overdue and at the look of it, its worth the wait check out the trailer which I believe is the UK trailer.
