Today in UK & Ireland Jim Mickle’s Post Apocalyptic Vampire ‘road’ movie STAKE LAND was released nationwide.In an unusal move Metrodome the British/Irish distributor has released another UK trailer which does contain some new footage not seen in the previous British trailer. The first thing which will come to peoples minds when vampires are in the movie, Twilight rest assure these bloodsuckers are not depressing emo vamps but vicious animal like creatures that would rip you apart from a heartbeat. Stake Land is alot more dark, gritty visceral movie which see a small band of survivors trying to stay alive in a world where the odds are against them with the vamps along right wing religious militias spreading racial hatred.
I really enjoyed this movie which I was fortunate to see at Glasgow Film Fest in February, it does keep its independent feel and with no blockbuster names on the cast list the movie keeps it feet firmly on the ground.Connor Paolo (Gossip Girl), Nick Damici (Mulberry Street), Danielle Harris (Hatchet 2) and Kelly McGillis(Top Gun).
