Columbia Pictures have unveiled the first trailer for Baseball drama MONEYBALL starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. When it comes American sports I’m a little bit clueless but Moneyball is based on a true story of Billy Beane the manager of Oakland A’s who rebuilt the team from rag to riches from struggler’s to one of the most successful in the sport, its a true underdog story.
Been from Scotland I dont have a clue about the sport, its football for me (soccer if your American) but when it comes to an underdog of a story you could put any sports into the affray and will work. If you love sporting drama’s like the Fighter, if Moneyball is smartly made it will hit the right chords even if your not a fan of the sport.
MONEYBALL also stars Kathryn Morris, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Wright. The movie is directed by Bennett Miller, with Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin wrote the script from a story by Stan Chervin with the movie coming out in UK&Ireland on November 4th (September 23rd in USA).
MONEYBALL is a movie for anybody who has ever dreamed of taking on the system. Brad Pitt stars as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s and the guy who assembles the team, who has an epiphany: all of baseball’s conventional wisdom is wrong. Forced to reinvent his team on a tight budget, Beane will have to outsmart the richer clubs. The onetime jock teams with Ivy League grad Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) in an unlikely partnership, recruiting bargain players that the scouts call flawed, but all of whom have an ability to get on base, score runs, and win games. It’s more than baseball, it’s a revolution – one that challenges old school traditions and puts Beane in the crosshairs of those who say he’s tearing out the heart and soul of the game.
