This afternoon I watched the brilliant X-MEN:FIRST CLASS at the cinema and I’m one of those sucka’s who love the previews. It was the usual suspects on the trailers front (Captain America, Bad Teacher) and when the Orange Mobile advert arrives you know it’s the end of trailers but just before the movie started we got The RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Trailer! It took some people by shock, but if you follow movies via websites like The Peoples Movies you would have already known a movie is on its way. So is this any better than the crap dished out by Tim Burton 10 years ago? Fans are hopeful it will be and even if its not great it still looks potentially better than Burton poor effort, will Andy Serkis perform admirably like he did when he was Gollum in Lord of The Rings? Or do you prefer the costumed actors or cgi versions of the apes like in this one? Judge for yourselves when the movie is released August 12th in UK & Ireland.
Check out the first offical TV Spot for the movie just days after the second trailer, a spot which was aired on American tv during last night’s NBA Finals.
An origin story in the true sense of the word, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is set in present day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale — a science fiction/science-fact blend where mankind’s hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Oscar(R)-winning visual effects house WETA Digital – employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for “Avatar” – will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.
