More Zombie Flicks Coming our Way…THE CURSE OF THE BUXOM STRUMPET & JESUS HATES ZOMBIES

It seems the legion of the undead will be roaming our cinema screens, searching for fresh flesh to gouge on, as 2 more zombie flicks have been announced. If you thought Pride & Prejudice and Zombies was the only zombie period drama on the horizion the think again! THE CURSE OF BUXOM STRUMPET is about to be made and today some of the possible cast were annouced. According to ScreenDaily  Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Gillian Anderson and Mark ‘suit you sir’ Williams (aka Ron Weasley’s Dad) are all attached to Matthew Butler’s upcoming flick , which is based on his 2010 comedy short E’gad Zombies.

All we know of the movie is; it is set in the 18th century; the inhabitants of a small seaside town are struck down with a deadly illness with unknown origin. It seems to be another trend from Hollywood, the adaptation of successful/popular short movies into feature length movies; Carl Erik Rinsch and Neil Blomkamp are two perfect examples of directors having their short films become (or about to become) feature length movies. What some film studios should really be asking is, ” if we adapt the short, can the winning formula still succeed as a feature ?” The Curse of The Buxom Strumpet works fine as a short movie, but crafting it into a full length feature could destroy the humour, by making it repetitive and boring.

Check out the short’s trailer below…

The next project JESUS HATES ZOMBIES was actually announced last year (was it? thats new news!) and guess what, it’s going to be an adaptation of another comic book series!! Created by Stephen Lindsay, this absurd but hilariously named series will be brought to the big screen from a script by Michael Mongillo , Jason Alan Smith and today Bloody Disgusting are reporting that it has a director.

24/Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Skyline star Eric Balfour will cast aside his Thespian duties and go behind the camera to make his directorial debut, though don’t be surprised if he nabs himself a part in it, if not the lead role! When you read up about this project seeing is believing as it starts to get a bit absurd, read on….

“In a not so distant future, zombies have overrun the earth. Fearing for the future of humanity, God sends his son Jesus Christ to save humanity. Upon returning, he finds that his powers are greatly diminished as they are tied to others’ faith in him. So he sets out to find the last remaining faithful and rally them to his cause. Along the way he comes across various friends including Mother Theresa, Elvis Presley, a stripper named King, and a time traveling Abraham Lincoln, who brings his own problem along. Werewolves.”

Now thats’ how to wind up religion and you can bet your bottom dollar that this story will wind up a few church leaders/activists and yes Elvis has entered the bulding to kick some zombie ass!  Thank you very much huh huh! I’m all shook up! What is worrying is every movie seems to be comic book related it’s great we know about the big titles but more and more smaller unknown titles are now making there way in to film studio’s; though curiosity may win or people will just cringe. I’m not a fan of every movie being a comic book movie, but I’m sure curious to see this one!
