CANNES 2011: Teaser Trailer For Takashi Miike’s HARA-KIRI:DEATH OF A SAMURAIi

He’s been getting some fantastic world wide attention for his current movie 13 ASSASSINS and next Friday May6th the movie finally arrives in UK&Ireland. The week later the 64TH Cannes International Film Festival will take place and Takashi Miike has a small matter of another movie been paraded at the festival HARA-KIRI: DEATH OF A SAMURAI (ichimei).

The movie is a remake of a 1962 movie by Masaki Kobayashi and a first for the festival, a 3D movie, a movie of Honour and vengeance. Below is an teaser trailer for the movie and whats so masterful about it there no dialogue or even a sight of 3d just a classic looking powerful short trailer that highlights that the cult directors strengths are in action packed period dramas.

The movie is due an offical release in Japan on October and if there’s going to be a release of the movie here probably 2012 before we see it.

Movie stars kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizo as Hanshirô Tsugumo, Eita as Motome Chijiiwa, Mitsushima Hikari as Miho Tsugumo and Yakusho Koji as Kageyu Saitô.

Seeking an honorable end, poverty-stricken samurai Hanshiro requests to commit hara-kiri in the courtyard of feudal lord Kageyu’s estate. Trying to dismiss Hanshiro’s wish to save face, Kageyu recounts the tragic story of a similar plea years ago from young ronin Motome. But the arrogant lord is unaware of vengeful Hanshiro’s bond to Motome…
