If your going to promote a car themed movie or animation in this case what perfect place to promote its new tv spot on the American televiosion coverage of The Nascar Daytona 500 race. Yesterday we had a look at a tv spot for Transformers:Darkside of The Moon with a tv spot and today Disney -Pixar’s CARS 2 also aired a tvspot during the coverage. The extended (65 seconds) tv spot still unfortunately doesnt get our engines running to ful effect and sadly therese nothing in this animation to get us all excited about and as one friend said to me “look at all the stars who are voicing the characters surely your excited about it?” yes true but ask a 5 year old or any one of the age group the movie targets do they know who they are. Probably not if they do probably dont care they are only interested in the animation and if they love it its done its purpose.
CARS 2 is due to race into our cinemas on 22nd July (USA June 24th) with Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Tony Shalhoub, Cheech Marin, Michael Keaton, Emily Mortimer, Jason Isaacs, Joe Mantegna, Peter Jacobson, Thomas Kretschmann, Eddie Izzard, and John Turturro all lending their voices.
Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.
