I’m killing two birds with one stone here, Yahoo have debuted online the American Theatrical trailer for Susanne Bier’s Oscar nominated movie IN A BETTER WORLD (Hævnen). As for the other reason, the movie is part of the European cinema strand for this month’s Glasgow international film festival with the movie been shown on 21st & 22nd of this month. For a festival only in its 7th year its fantastic the festival is now showing 2 of the best foreign movie categories for this month Oscar ceremony with Incendies been the other movie, so a mark of respect due to the organiser’s for pulling that feat off and earn the right to say they are the third biggest film festival in UK after London & Edinburgh.
IN A BETTER WORLD also called by Civilization tells the story ofAnton a kind hearted doctor who had been working tiredlessy in a African refugee camp returns home to find his marriage in tatters and his son Ellias been bullied. After Anton is hit by a mechanic he refuses to hit back but the boys who decide to take there own revenge resulting in horrifying consequences.
The movie has been written by Oscar winning Anders Thomas Jensen which could give the movie the edge when 27 th february comes around. Looking at the nominees it is a hard choice as there’s so many strong contendors which is making this years awards alot more exciting in all categories!

Anton is a doctor who commutes between his home in an idyllic town in Denmark, and his work at an African refugee camp. In these two very different worlds, he and his family are faced with conflicts that lead them to difficult choices between revenge and forgiveness. Anton and his wife Marianne, who have two young sons, are separated and struggling with the possibility of divorce. Their older, ten-year-old son Elias is being bullied at school, until he is defended by Christian, a new boy who has just moved from London with his father, Claus. Christian’s mother recently lost her battle with cancer, and Christian is greatly troubled by her death. Elias and Christian quickly form a strong bond, but when Christian involves Elias in a dangerous act of revenge with potentially tragic consequences, their friendship is tested and lives are put in danger. Ultimately, it is their parents who are left to help them come to terms with the complexity of human emotions, pain and empathy. – IMDB
