Our good friends at HeyUguys (thanks David!) have sent us the brand new explosive UK Trailer for IRONCLAD sent to them from Warner Bros. The movie stars James Purefoy, Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox, Derek Jacobi, Jason Flemyng, Kate Mara, Charles Dance and MacKenzie Crook.

We heard about this movie away back in January 2010 when the production was under way in Wales when a promo teaser went live but now 13 months on finally the offical trailer is here! Looking at the cast it looks like halfof the Soloman Kane cast are in this especially James Purefoy whose become a dab hand with the old sword though now a slightly different era and Kate Mara the sister Rooney seems to be poping up in every movie from indie movies to recently 127 Hours and this! Did I mention Paul Giamatti looks brilliant as the mad evil King John!!!

IRONCLAD will be out in UK & Ireland from March 4th, cant wait!

IRONCLAD recounts one of the most violent, pivotal moments in English medieval history – when a few good men fought against insurmountable odds to defend their country from a megalomaniac, blood-drunk king. Torn from the pages of history, the devastating battle for the castle of Rochester is a true story of honour, action and excitement. There will be blood. The year is 1215. King John (Paul Giamatti) has been forced to sign the Magna Carta, a document that will ensure the freedom of men and form the basis of common law in England. Furious at having been forced to sign it, King John raises a vicious mercenary army and begins a rampage across the country to regain total power. But as the King’s army is on the brink of reaching London and taking back control of the country, one last castle stands between him and inevitable victory: Rochester. Gathered together by Baron Albany (Brian Cox), a small band of rebel warriors gather inside Rochester intent on holding off King John until reinforcements arrive: a Templar Knight (James Purefoy) whose soul is wracked with guilt over the atrocities he has committed during the crusades and his burgeoning feelings for Isabel (Kate Mara), the beautiful lady of the castle and lonely wife of the aging Reginald de Cornhill (Derek Jacobi); battle-hardened mercenaries such as Beckett (Jason Flemying), who fight not for God and country, but for money and bloodlust; and young soldiers like Guy (Aneurin Barnard), who’ll taste blood and battle for the first time – and perhaps the last.

  3. Ironclad is one of the most brutal in-your-face violent Brit-flicks (and not just British to be honest) I’ve ever seen.
In fact it’s the violence itself that seems to be Ironclad’s selling point. It’s obviously all sold as “realism” but we all know that in this case it’s just another word for gratuitous and exploitive.
And so as the handheld-shaky-cam swings about and the editing goes crazy hiding the pretty low-budget, limbs fly left, right and centre, hands get chopped off, people get literally sliced in two in the bloodiest and ruthless gore-fest you’ll ever seen.
