Sky Movies Premiere today have sent me over 2 new images for their upcoming movie NEVERLAND. The movie is to be aired on the channel this year sometime in two parts and does boast a great cast including of Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, and Charlie Rowe. When it comes to classic stories its like treading on eggshells you have to be carefull of not destroying the magic the original has created along with not emulating whats already been made so creating something original but also respectful of the roots is in order here.
The movie is not a sequel of the original JM Barrie classic story but a prequel looking at how the legendary Peter Pan and the lost boys as well as Hook all become who they are, the origins. Hopefully the magic of the previous animation, stories, movies can be kept alove with this movie. There is an short behind the scenes featurette also on the movie with the movies director, writer Nick Willing giving us all a little insight into the movies along with Ryhs Ifans wo plays Jimmy Hook the mentor of the Lost Boys also has a yarn about the movie too. The film – to be released in two 90-minute parts in 2011 appearing exclusively on Sky Movies Premiere HD – is a bold new take on the original mythology of JM Barrie’s famous story.
Featuring The Lost Boys, Captain Hook, The Indians, Croc and Neverland itself, the movie – written and directed by Nick Willing – marks the beginning of the classic yarn and marks the return of Bob Hoskins in the role of Mr Smee from Steven Spielberg’s Hook.
Raised on the streets of turn-of-the-century London, orphaned Peter (Charlie Rowe) and his pals survive by their fearless wits as cunning young pickpockets.
Now, they’ve been rounded up by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans) to snatch a priceless treasure whose magical powers transports them to another world.
It’s here that the boys find themselves confronted by a band of 18th century pirates led by the power-mad Elizabeth Bonny (Anna Friel), and the Native American Kaw tribe led by a Holy Man (Danny Trujillo), which has protected the secret of the tree spirits from Bonny and her gang for ages.
As the fight to save this strange and beautiful world becomes vital, Hook, Peter, and the ragamuffin lost boys consider that growing old somewhere in time could be less important than growing up.

JM Barrie originally gave the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1929 and Neverland will subsequently be supporting the great work of the famous children’s hospital.
