In a era when originality is very rare its exciting to see new movies been made where the idea for it is original and SUCKERPUNCH and I applaud any filmmaker outthere who can do the same with remaking, rebooting or whatever god forsaken way they call it these days. In the eyes of the comicbook film enthusiast Zack Snyder is up there just under the ‘king’ Christopher Nolan and no matter what you think of a movie if that movie provides a true form of pure escapism its a good mvie in my books.
The visual style of Suckerpunch follows similar style of Watchmen, 300 enticing your own imagination delving into the unique world of Snyder’s characters and for this movie Babydoll (Emily Browning). These days you dont see many movies where the girl or woman is the heroine and not just a damnsel in distress but 5 pretty girls ready to kick some ass!!! But thumbs up for Mr & Mrs Snyder for giving the middle finger to 3D Movies, thinking of qaulity rather than qauntity of cash the Film studio wants, here’s hoping more directors follow suit and not con the public for more of your well earned pennies
Below is an new featurette released by Warner Bros via Apple showing already alot of released scenes with the cast & crewgiving us an insight of the dark fantastical world of SUCKERPUNCH. Synopsis –
Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared. “Sucker Punch” is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary. She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls–the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)–to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm). Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey–if they succeed–will set them free.
