Visually this does look very impressive but everything in between does look very messy and to anyone who may have never read, seen which is a shame as it has a impressive cast of Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina, David Strathairn, Chris Cooper, Alan Cumming, Ben Whishaw, Russell Brand, and Djimon Hounsou. There’s been big hopes for this movie but the movie has played recently at Venice as well New York and the feedback was very poor but alot of Shakespeare work is a required taste and very hard to create for audineces who may not understand the style of his works. They are classic works and in schools in UK his works are part of the English curriqilium so he is highly regarded worldwide.
No UK release date yet for this but USA will be able to see the movie when it opens on December 10th.
Synopsis – In her big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s mystical thriller “The Tempest,” Academy Award(R)-nominated Julie Taymor (“Across the Universe,” “Frida,” “Titus”) brings an original dynamic to the story by changing the gender of the sorcerer Prospero into the sorceress Prospera, portrayed by Oscar(R) winner Helen Mirren (“The Queen”). Prospera’s journey spirals through vengeance to forgiveness as she reigns over a magical island, cares for her young daughter, Miranda, and unleashes her powers against shipwrecked enemies in this exciting, masterly mix of romance, tragicomedy and the supernatural.
