It was Strawberry Fields (Forever) in James Bond in Quantum Of Solace 2008 movie and Gemma Arterton is a lady in demand in the Hollywood film moguls. Friday we will see her in Tamara Drewe when its released nationwide, her summer was busy with Clash Of The Titans and Prince of Persia but it was her performance in a small indie movie back in April Disappearance of Alice Creed that caught the attention of none other than Ridley Scott.
In a The Sunday Times interview Arterton revealed Ridley Scott was awestruck by her performance in Alice Creed a young woman imprisoned in a her own home by two convicts, that he is set to meet the star to possibly play the female lead role in The Aliens 2 parter prequel. Her performance was seen as a very strong female character overcoming objectives and her character is very similar to Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) and Scott sees Arterton as the ideal actress to play Ripley in the prequels, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapce has also been linked with this part too but shes been linked with a hundred more movies too!
In the same interview Arterton also reveals she has joined the Christopher Nolan Adaption of the Ruth Rendell thriller The Keys To the Street . The script was written a way back before The Dark Knight hit the cinemas but dont expect Nolan to direct as he wants to focus on personal projects. Another movie Gemma Arterton will be joining is In with the Outlaws an Western comedy to be directed by Richard E.Grant starring Gabriel Bryne and Timothy Spall.
Ridley Scott also was in the Sunday spreads when he spoke to The Independent talking about the Aliens Prequel and how the idea of the prequels has been sprouting around since that nasty little critter popped out of John Hurt’s stomach in the original movie. With Lost Co-Creator Damon Lindoff busy finishing off the sript for the movies I think we can say annoucements on who will be joining the cast arent far off too.
“The film will be really tough, really nasty,” he tells The Independent of the 3D two-parter. “It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?”
Scott also had a little friendly banter at James Cameron who created the first sequel and the sucess of it is an challange or target for these prequels
“Jim’s raised the bar and I’ve got to jump to it,…………..He’s not going to get away with it.”
