Last week I posted a report about Don Cheadle and Freida Pinto joining James Franco on the cast for the prequel to Planet of the apes called Rise The Apes. The post  I did state it was rumour only but today Heat Vision are reporting that Freida Pinto will be joining the cast along with 3rd Rock from The Sun star John Lithgow.

The Fox prequel to the popular fantasy franchise will be directed by British director Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) which has James Franco as the scientist working for Alzheimer’s which he tests on the Apes. Franco’s on screen father will be played by Lithgow who will play a man suffering from the disease with the test subject Ape been a ape called Cesar who evolves very quickly and Franco must take him home to protect him from the cruel scientists thus starting the downfall of the human race.

Pinto who made her name (and  acting debut) in Danny Boyle’s oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire and now currently filming The Immortals Tarem Singh’s fantasy epic about the Greek Gods the titans (also with Mickey Rourke, kellan Lutz, stephen Dorff).

John Lithgow career is now on the up again after an  awarding winning part as a evil serial killer tv hit show  Dexter and was last seen in Leap Year (which I actually watched on the plane coming back home from Greece, wasnt bad but not great).

The movie will be shooting in British Columbia, Canada sometime in Summer aiming for a june 24th 2011  American release date (no date set for UK release yet) with Rick Jaffa & Amand Silver (The RELIC) on writing and production duties.
