The swinging doors at David Cronenberg’s biopic movie about Sigmund Frued The Talking Cure have been very busy the past few days with news today annouced that Oscar winner Christoph Waltz has dropped out of Talking Cure according to Deadline. He has been replace by Cronenberg regular Viggo Mortensen whom he has worked with on Eastern Promises and History of Violence, another sucessfull actor/director relationship which can only be great news for the movie, a great actor replacing a great actor.
The reason for Christoph Waltz’s dropout is due to concentrete on his role as a circusmaster during the depression era in the movie Water For Elephants, a love triangle story which co-stars Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. Waltz was due to play Sigmund Frued which Mortensen will play and the story is about a rumoured fued between 2 great thinkers Frued and Carl Jueng played by Michael Fassbender over a patient who will be played by Kera Knightly.
But as the news broke about Waltz and Mortensen The Playlist were alerted by one of their readers that the movies French film distributor Mars Films has posted on their Facebook page that Vincent Cassel has also joined the cast of the film.
This is what was posted:
The cast of THE TALKING CURE the next film by David Cronenberg has been announced Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender will play respectively Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, along with Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel.
Casselis also no stranger to David Cronenberg’s work as he was in his Eastern Promises along with Viggo Mortensen. Despite Waltz leaving the movie it does look very promising for Talking Cure and on course for shooting to start middle May time.
