2010 bits

clash_of_the_titans02 Whilst researching my next post (be on online hopefully  next 24 hours), I was browsing throught the movie magazines and 2010 there alot of interesting  (if not excellent) film projects on the way.

I was disappointed with the first film and havent seen Prince caspian but next year Voyage of the Dawn Treader which is regarded as the best of the bunch as its set on the sea and the films heros will be up against dwarves, merfolf and lost warriors as they edge closer to the edge of the world, unfortunately December 4th is when well be able to see it on the big screen.

I have to admit it’s taken me a while to appreciate his work but you expect at one if not two projects a year with Tim Burton involved (not forgetting Johnny Depp) and March 12th see’s the release of  Alice In Wonderland a live action-stop motion combo which stars Tim’s mate Johnny as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. There is a massive cast here including Christopher Lee, Alan Rickman, Helena Boham Carter, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry, Timothy Spall and Michael sheen plus many more….

johnyWell 2010 will have its fair share of Remakes, reboots, long awaited next installments whatever you want call them. When I first saw charmed I always fancied the redhead one, dont know why just did but that redhead girl Rose McGowan will be playing the lead role in Red Sonja . I dont know why the big thing at the moment to remake films that where only made in the 1980’s? mmm probably the fact technology can make the film more graphic, what else? Stars Wars movies are a perfect example of ruining a great 1970s/1980’s franchise when George Lucas made the last 3 pieces of crap, I wonder who’ll play Arnies character Kalidor, plus who will play him in Conan remake in 2010 as well?

Sylvester stallone ruined a British comic book Icon when he played him, but fingers crossed the 2010 (or 2012) Judge Dredd movie will be far superior plus hopefully true to the 2000AD anti-hero and so far reports say its strong and will more original Joe Dredd (Yessss!!!).

In 1980’s my pocket money was spent every week buying Roy of the rovers and 200AD comic books but my true first memory of the cinema was going to see Clash of the Titans with Harry Hamlin and Laurence Olivier. When I read there was a 2010 remake with Terminator Salvation’s Sam Worthington as Perseus I was so eager to learn more but at the same time so determined that the new version wont ruin my first collective memory of cinema. (Liam Neeson will play Zeus)

So the comic book characters will be blasting onto our screens in 2010 a bit as well. When I got older I discovered American comicbooks and every few weeks I would get a weekend trip up to Glasgow city centre and off to comic store for Spiderman, X-men and Batman comic book fix. I liked a few others and 20 years on my favourite comic heros have had there share of the big screen, but I get a bit why are they making this or mixed reactions when films are been made for the comics ‘smaller characters’ and Jonah Hex is one of them. You just have to look back at films like Punisher which has been remade 3 times and none really made a impact, Jonah Hex the disfigured bounty hunter does have a strong cast with Josh Brolin as Jonah along with Megan Fox and John Malkovich. Iron Man 2 will be out April/May time with array of Baddies including Mickey Rourke as whiplash.

I like my sciFI and post apocalyptic movies denzel+washington+3and Book of Eli is one im looking forward to, with Denzil washington and the ever impressive Gary Oldman. 2010  will be Christopher Nolans mega sci-fi blockbuster (well if reports say $200million budget!!!) Inception will be released and this film has got Batman fanboys sad that next installment of the caped crusader maybe delayed or even be made by someone else after Nolan made a bucket load for the studio and put batman back up where it belonged, only time will tell.

So what else? Wizard of oZ (WHAT?), Gulliver’s Travels, When World’s Collide, The Green Hornet, A-team (you crazy fool!!) and Straw Dogs, well the list just goes on and on,and on, and on, and on and ON!.
